RUBY

A ruby is a pink to blood-red colored gemstone, a variety of mineral corundum (aluminum oxide.)  Other varieties of gem-quality corundum are called sapphires.  Ruby is on of the traditional cardianal gems, together with amethyst, sapphire, emerald, and diamond.  The word ruby comes from ruber, Latin red.

HEALING PROPERTIES

Healing with ruby balances the heart and instills confidence.  Ruby encourages joy, spontaneity, laughter and courage.  It promotes positive dreams and stimulates the penal gland.  Aids in retaining wealth and passion.

WHERE IT'S FROM

The most recently found ruby deposit in Myanmar is in Namya (Namyazeik) located in the northern stat of Kachin.  Rubies have historically been mined in Thailand, the Pailin and Samlout District of Cambodia, Burma, India, Afghanistan, Austrlia, Namibia, Colombia, Japan, Scotland, Brazil and in Pakistan.
